How I Started Moving and Built Strength at Home
When I started strength training, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. When should you train? How long should your workouts be? Which exercises should you choose? How many times per week do you need to train to see results—and how long will it take to notice them?
You could have even more questions, but all of them would have the same answer: it depends!
I guess this is not exactly what you wanted to hear.
Be Realistic and Kind to Yourself!
The truth is whenever you start something new, whether it’s exercise, a work project, a home renovation, or even building your own business, you need to be realistic. Ok yes, sometimes you might get lucky and meet the right person at the right time, and everything just falls into place, but let's face it, that happens maybe once in a million times.
For the other 999.999 times, you’ll need a plan, one that you follow with dedication, consistency, and positivity.
Why? Because it will definitely happen that even with a plan, things might not go as planned or they might go slower than you hoped for.
So yes: dedication, consistency and positivity.
And don’t forget, learn from your mistakes, and keep moving forward.
Consistency Over Perfection
I’m not saying this to discourage you, but to remind you to stay patient and to know that with consistency, you can absolutely make it happen.
I changed my routines countless times, my workouts, my exercises, because life got in the way. There were days I had to work late, and honestly, I just wasn’t in the mood to exercise. I just wanted a beer.
But if there’s one thing I always kept doing, it was moving.
I cycled everywhere—to work, to see friends. If something was within an hour’s walk, I walked; if it was farther, I cycled. At work, I started doing squats, even just ten every hour or two, and as well incline push-ups against my desk.
“Exercise became part of who I am—not a chore, but a lifestyle.”
Movement Became My Routine
Over time, that passion led me to become a personal trainer, helping others discover how empowering strength training can be.
From there, I started designing more tailored programs, figuring out how long I needed for each workout and when to fit them in. It felt so good that I started waking up early to exercise. I found my routine: wake up, breakfast, workout, then work.
Now I have more energy, I feel stronger than I did in my twenties, but most importantly, I feel confident that I can set goals and actually achieve them.
Helping Others Find Their Strength
That’s why I want to help others feel the same way. I know how confusing it can be at the beginning, not knowing where to start or what to do next. But once you find your rhythm, everything changes—you start feeling stronger, more capable, and proud of your progress.
